Good Lawn Maintenance Requires Passion And Hard Work

When you take a survey among people of what they consider an ideal luxury house should contain, you will get varied responses from them. Some would want their house to have a swimming pool, while some would want a tennis court. Some others would want other kinds of luxuries that money can buy. However, one common desire amongst everybody would be the luxury of having a well maintained lawn and landscape in the front of their house. This is something that has always captured the imagination of people and most of us would like nothing better than to have a well manicured lawn or garden with a swing or hammock in which we can laze around and have a relaxing time.

It is also a dream for many to host garden parties for friends and relatives and show off their property. That thrill is a unique one and those who can afford such a luxury are considered very lucky. It is however one thing to have a nice looking lawn and quite another to ensure that it remains looking fresh and beautiful. You need to show a great deal of passion as well as the ability to work hard to make sure that your lawn maintenance efforts bear fruit and you can be justifiably proud of your lawn or garden.

Lawn maintenance should not be seen as a burden but as an important activity and part of your home preservation endeavours. Remember that a well maintained lawn enhances the value of the property and the task itself need not be a very expensive affair. Some simple things like having sprinklers, dedicated water spaces, enclosures to hold flowers will go a long way in making your lawn look fresh and neat.

Other basic activities that are integral to the health of the lawn include conducting regular soil tests. This will give you an idea of the nutrient content in the soil and the steps you can take to maintain appropriate pH levels. You will also do well to add compost as well as the best fertilisers available to provide the required inputs to the soil. This needs to be done after due consultation with a horticulturist as only they are well aware of what would suit the type of soil keeping in view the weather conditions prevailing at that point in time.

Adequate aeration, mulching, weed control and pest control are other very important activities that require your attention. Laxity in action would render your lawn susceptible to the proliferation of weeds and all of us know how difficult it is to keep removing them. So is the case with pests. You need to devote time and investment in the right quality of herbicides and pesticides to deal with these problems.

Lawn maintenance is an activity that is ongoing and unless you have the patience, passion and time to do it yourself, you should not attempt doing it. The alternative is to outsource it to professional agencies that will do the job for you.
